Simplex Granted STC for AgustaWestland AW139 Fire Attack System

The Federal Aviation Administration has granted STC# SR02351LA to Simplex Manufacturing for a fire attack system for the AgustaWestland AW139. The Model 326 tank is a 1st generation fire fighting water tank for the AW139. This STC is the newest Simplex product in addition to a collection of over 150 US and foreign certifications.

This certification is the result of a working partnership between Simplex Manufacturing and AgustaWestland Philadelphia Corporation to develop a system that delivers superior performance and value to helicopter operators. Mark Zimmerman, President and CEO of Simplex commented, “The aerodynamic design of the tank optimizes the exceptional speed and flight capability of the AW139”. He further commented, “The 326 incorporates new features you cannot find on conventional fire fighting water tanks to increase safety and efficiency”. These new features include tank mounted video cameras that allow the pilot to view the tank doors and hover pump from a multi-function cockpit display. The tank is composed of light-weight, high-strength composite material, and can be installed in less than 15 minutes. The 326 is currently operating under field approval in Los Angeles, California with multiple deliveries scheduled for June and July for use in Asia.
